I took at course at BYU that had me identify and set goals. Here are some of the important points I learned.
- Write it down!
- Be Specific. Be Very Specific.
- Measure! Make sure you can evaluate progress -- It has to end sometime! You should be able to accomplish the goal within a healthy timeframe.
- It should stretch you! Go for the challenge!!
- It needs to fit into your life and your value system.
Do not make a goal an activity. Establish the overall goals for your life. Then establish long-term and short-term goals. Then create daily or weekly activities that will get you there.
I will (do what specifically) by doing (what activities) When? Where? How?
